i seriously cannot stand people who say they love dance but really have no slightest idea bout dance.
even i don't say i love dance can.
the most i say i love locking as in i like to lock. yarh.
but anyway that's not the point.

today i was helping to teach the j1s basic steps as usual.
then they (no actually just one of the j2. vice chair to be more exact.) kept asking me to do wave.
okay so i do wave.
then she said "eh the seniors say must do the fingers one also."
then i said "but i not very sure. and it's wrong also anyway the one they taught."
she said "but the seniors said must do. we must listen to the seniors."

so i got pissed off and went to the side to see everyone do damn ugly horrible arm waves.
if that can even be called an arm wave.
and yarh i don't care if the seniors or the vice chair or anyone else sees this.
i'd rather they see anyway.

anyway that's not all.
later right. after finishing with all the basics and isolations and waves and stuff.
the chairperson came to tell me "eh i got feedback from the rest of the j2s that the stuff you've been teaching is not so hiphop leh. like more towards the locking side."
then i was like "huh wth. it's totally hiphop lorh."
then she said "oh is it? some steps they said like more towards the locking side. and the wave you teach also it's more like the locking kind."
then i sian already.
first, i'm sure locking got wave lorh please.
second, what you mean the "popping kind (i think that's what she was trying to say)" of wave or "hiphop kind" of wave.
wave is wave lorh.
and anyway waving is part of popping what.
and hiphop evolved from pop lock bboy and stuff what.
show me what is a hiphop wave larh siao.
i teach the breakdown of arm and body wave doesn't mean i'm teaching popping and not hiphop can.
if you can't do the breakdown how to do a smooth wave? a nice controlled one.
these people don't see the importance of doing basics. maybe that's why after one year of dancing they still can't even dance. can't even like get basic groove stuff.
but yarh of cos not all of them totally can't dance.
a few can. and i think those few are really good. considering they learnt and are still learning stuff from youtube.
and also these people don't see the importance of knowing how these dances originated. how they evolved.
everytime i mention dance history. they laugh.
it's not funny. seriously.
you go tell people locking got wave see funny not.

and another thing.
i'm sure after dancing for a year they can't tell what's hiphop and what's not.
what you mean "the steps are more to the locking side".
locking is locking hiphop is hiphop can.
if you have no idea about what locking is what makes you think those steps are "locking steps"?
and not like you've never seen those steps being used/learnt those steps before.
doesn't mean i'm a "locker" (that's what they all think/call me) means i dunno my hiphop stuff k.
anyway if you think i'm a locker the more i should know what isn't locking right.
wth.

and one last thing.
seriously. what's the big deal bout isolations.
isolations aren't basics.
isolations don't come before groove. or at least the most basic stuff like bouncing.
what's the point of being able to do isolations so well when you can't bounce?
for goodness sake stop emphasizing to the j1s that isolations are basics and that their basics are weak just cos they can't isolate well.
wth.

if you really wanna talk bout basics, please at least get your warmups/stretching stuff correct larh.
half my batch still dunno how to stretch properly k.
yarh that's how 严重 they are.

doesn't mean seniors say this means this is correct and we must follow and teach exactly the same thing to the j1s.
doesn't mean hamzah does this and says this so this is correct and we should practise this.

of cos not saying that i know everything and that whatever i say/do is correct and the only correct way.
if they realised. when i teach i'll always first tell everyone that i'll be teaching that step/whatever the way i learnt it. and show them the variations/at least mention if i'm not too sure.
and if i'm not sure of any stuff i say that i'm not sure and that it's what i learnt and i think it's called this (for example)

though really i can't totally blame them for having so much wrong ideas about dance.
no proper instructor.
but if they joined this cca in the first place means they want to learn.
that they're interested in dance.
and not like i've never told them stuff like those i mentioned above before.
they just can't be bothered to listen.
and really i don't care bout them/haven't been caring bout them for dunno how long.
but at least if they want to insist that what they do/think is right when they know it's not.
don't teach/give wrong idas to the j1s can.

this cca die already.
really.

one batch should only have like <10 people.
what's the point of having 20+ people when more than half the batch doesn't actually give a damn bout dance.

damn pissed off.
not cos they don't ever listen.
not cos they play a fool during pracs.
but cos they don't have any respect for dance. at all.

it's damn 丢脸 can.
to be in a dance cca with three quarters of the people not knowing a single thing bout dance.
even if you just treat this as a cca. at least get the most fundamental stuff right.

i'm gonna scold them next session already.
i'm serious.
they better watch out and stop all these crap for goodness sake.
